About Mid-Year Seminar
Once again, the Department of Texas will be hosting a Mid-Year Seminar. It will be held on January 12-14, 2018.
We are already hard at work or the event. Our focus is on preparing the training needed to be successful in service to veterans. We hope all chapters will be present. It is a great opportunity to learn and share information with others.
Some of the class topics will include:
- Completing Officer & Financial Reports
- Resolution Writing Made Simple
- Constitution and Bylaws – A Better Understanding
- Robert’s Rules – How Does It Work?
- Fundraising – The Do’s and Don’ts for Success
- Adopted Department Initiatives – What’s New?
…as well as a more in-depth informative look at other must-know topics of which many new members are unaware.
But that’s not all. Plenty of time will be available to provide for camaraderie and networking amongst other DAV members from across the state. This will include a Meet and Greet Reception the evening of Friday, January 12th. Then on Saturday, January 13th, lunch will be provided to everyone – cost included in the $15 registration – giving everyone more time to socialize and share with others.
Venue – Omni Corpus Christi Hotel
The venue for the seminar will be the Omni Hotel, Corpus Christi at 900 N. Shoreline Boulevard. Our discounted room rate is $105 for a single and $123 for a double. Self-parking will cost $5.00 per vehicle, per day with valet parking available at an additional cost. The discounted room rate is limited with an expiration date of December 20, 2017. That’s it! The cost of rooms reserved after December 20, 2017 will be at the normal going rate. Please take advantage of the discount and make your reservations early by calling (361) 887-1600.
Registration for the Mid-Year Seminar
To make this successful we really need your help! Please share with us a list of your chapter members who are planning to attend the seminar using the Mid-Year Registration form. Just fill it out with your member names to attend and fax or mail it back to Department HQ by November 15, 2017. That’s it! Prepayment of registration is not required but we are happy to accept. The list itself is most important in helping us to prepare for the possible number attending.
