What We Do

The Department of Texas is home to 62 chapters located all over the state. Each a slightly different way of providing service to improve the lives of the Texans who served. With DAV National and long-time partner, Ford Motor Company, DAV Department of Texas purchases vehicles that are donated to the VA to provide transportation to and from VA appointments for veterans.  This network of vehicles, VA facilities and volunteers is known as the DAV Transportation Network Need a ride?  Use the DAV Hospital Service Coordinator (HSC) Directory to contact your nearest HSC for assistance.

Directed by the Department Service Commission, twelve highly-trained Department Service Officers (DSOs) are employed to provide dedicated full-time, free, professional assistance to veterans of all generations in obtaining VA and other government benefits earned through service.  Located at eleven locations across the state, these DSOs provide counselin on all veterans’ benefits including disability compensation, health care, pension, survivos’ benefits, employment rights, education and more.  Our DSOs also help veterans assemble evidence need to support claims, build their cases, and prepare the forms and briefs.  View the list of DSOs to get location and contact information.
