As the year comes to an end, let us look back at the accomplishments of 2016. The dawn of the new year brings with it even more opportunities than ever before. 2017 is the beginning of a whole new array of challenges and a bright future for us all.
The end of all of the holiday dinners and hustle and bustle of the holiday season are just a few days away. I hope each one of you have had the chance to visit your nearest nursing home or hospital, shut in’s and sick ones that are not able to be at home with family this year. This is a time to give thanks for all of the blessings we have received. You never know what someone has been through and your smile and kind words may be just what someone needs to hear.
The Annual State School of Instruction is coming January 13, 14 and 15th in Corpus Christi at the Omni Corpus Christi Hotel. I hope you have made your reservations already. We look forward to seeing everyone there. This is a chance to learn more about the workings of the DAV Auxiliary in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere and meet new friends as well. This is always a fun learning experience for us all.
I would like to encourage each one to recruit “Just One New Member”. With the opening up of membership opportunities, there are endless ways to reach out into the community and bring new members into our fold. Our family and extended families are easier to recruit now than ever before. If you would carry blank membership applications pamphlets about our Auxiliary, it is much easier to explain what we do as members of this wonderful organization. I look forward to reaching our 100% mark with your help. It takes all of us working together to reach this goal and each of us working together to keep helping our Veterans.
“Looking forward to the future thru windows of the past”
We need to look at our veteran’s today to be able to see how we can improve service to them in the future.
Yours in Service
Anita Lee, Commander
DAVA State Department of Texas
