Christmas Toy Drive and Giveaway 2021

 

DAV Chapter 240 of Cedar Hill, Texas under the leadership of Commander Ray Johnson adopted Bray Elementary school in Cedar Hill and sponsored a toy drive/ toy give away.  With the collaborative efforts from the community and city leadership funds were raised to purchase toys for the 256 students of the school.  Each student provided a wish list and the DAV toy drive committee consisting of Sr. Vice Commander Debra Carroll, 1st Jr. Vice Commander Ramona Ross-Bacon, 2nd Jr. Vice Commander Phil Simmons and Lead CSO Betty Beason selected and purchased the items for each student. In total more than $4,500.00 worth of toys and clothes were purchased. On December 14, 2021, the committee and volunteers Teresa Ross, Zenia Simmons and Cassaundra Haynes went to each class and passed out the toys to each individual student. On Saturday, December 18, 2021, The Cedar Hill Action Team (CHAT) continued the efforts for the DAV #240 and provided toys for the siblings of the Bray Elementary community. The hospitality committee in partnership with Judge Advocate Troy Bacon and founder of Rooted ‘n the Roux Mobile Catering provided lunch for the 36 teachers and staff.

This was a great time giving back to our community.
