DAV is once again asking for nominations for our George H Seal Awards . Only DAV and DAV Auxiliary members enrolled as accredited VAVS volunteers are eligible for this prestigious award. The award honors the memory and accomplishments of George H. Seal, a World War II combat-injured paratrooper, who made many significant contributions during his lengthy career as DAV National VAVS Representative and member of the VAVS National Advisory Committee.
An award will be presented to an outstanding volunteer from both the DAV and DAV Auxiliary at the DAV National Convention. Each of the two (2) winners and their companion will receive round-trip airfare (lowest non-refundable fare), hotel accommodations, and per diem for three days. The winners will also receive a trophy replica and their names will be engraved on the George H. Seal Memorial Trophy, which is permanently displayed at DAV National Headquarters in Cold Spring, Kentucky. In addition, all individual nominees receive a certificate recognizing their contributions.
Please also remember that the application period for the Jesse Brown Memorial Youth Scholarship is open until February 28th. You can nominate an eligible youth volunteer in your area, or youth volunteers can apply themselves. For information on eligibility, or to access the online nomination form go to DAV Scholarships.org.
All departments will be receiving an email in the coming weeks with a list of your top 10 VAVS volunteers and all eligible youth volunteers. Volunteers whose hours have not been reported to DAV National HQ will not be included in those lists.
